Can Tylenol And Amoxicillin Be Taken Together During Pregnancy?

Im pregnant, and I have an abscess on my gum. Last night I went to the ER cause the pain was excrutiating. The doctor just gave me Tylenol for the pain, and said it was safe. I visited my dentist today, and he prescribed me Amoxicillin 500mg fo the abscess. I was wondering if it is safe to take them both around the same time?

Hi,

Paracetamol is used to relieve the pain while the antibiotic is to treat the infection. I would ask you to consume the medications at least with a gap of 30 minutes to have better action. There is no proven teratogenicity in human studies with these medications, hence they can be used when necessary. Take them along with food to ensure lesser acidity which is a possible side effect.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shanti Vennam,
