Can Valsartan And Metoprolol Tartrate Cause Fluid Retention In Body?
Will the following drugs cause water retention and if so should I be on a water reduction pill? The drugs are valsartan 80 mg 1x daily and metoprolol tartate 50 mg 1x daily? If so, what do you suggest for water reduction. I have noticed i have gained about 15 pounds since 2005 from being on this medication - I am a 100% disabled service connected veteran and a type 2 diabetic (insulin using)
Water retention would not solely account for weight gain over a 11 year period.
Weight gain may be due to different causes: (A) it is possible that it is related to the insulin (some types can be associated with the weight gain),
(B)the fact that you may not be able to move about as much as you would want to because of your disability
(C)Metoprolol can also be associated with weight gain because it may decrease energy output as well
Diet changes and any physical activity that you are able to do would help with weight loss. Diet changes can involve either a low carb diet or a low fat/low calorie diet.
You should choose which option would best suit you.
I hope this helps
