Can Vesicare Tablet Be Cut Into Half Before Consumption?

I am allergic to a lot of items. What the pills are mixed with, the binder usually causes me problems. I just got vesicare 5mg and it says not to cut them and take smaller. Most pills I take I cut them in half to make sure I will not get too sick before I take a whole pill. Can I cut this pill? My doctor usually tells me I can on my pills until I am sure I do not get sick. 66 years old.
