Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Vimpat Cause Episodes Of Incomprehension And Speechlessness?
My Neurologist put me on Vimpat because she said I was having seizures. Minor ones at that, After the MRI and the EEG. She said everything is normal. But I am still having episodes where I can t speak. can t read or understand anything anyone is saying to me. Im going to my general doc Friday. Should I stop taking Vimpat so see if they are causing the episodes?
Thanks for your question. I do understand your pain and discomfort. As per your history is concerned your problem is not due to Vimpat, it is given for anticonvulsant cases. So try to find the reason behind this seizure. So the cause behind your seizure has already been mentioned in the MRI scan report which you have already done.
If that reason is eradicated, all your problems will be solved. So do not worry at all check your neurological clinical signs time to time by your neurologist.
I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks, Dr. Shoaib Khan
