Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Sorry to hear of your sufferings,
insomnia is not uncommon. The general approach is to apply
sleep hygiene first, that is avoid sleep in day, avoid tea coffee in the night, switch light off, avoid noise, fixed time for sleep, and even a warm bath before going to bed. If this does not work, medicines can be given, however they should not be used too long , that why your doc is very right, so you should work to get rid of this drug.If insomnia is secondary to other causes like
depression, that should be addressed, so you should manage to see a
psychiatrist to address the main cause and help you in this .
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards
Dr Rahman
