Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Vyvanse Affect Fetal Growth During Early Pregnancy?
My wife recently was prescribed vyvanse for her ADHD/ADD, She went to the urgent care Monday to have a blood pregnancy test done. The results came back positive. Would the Medicine cause this? She started her time of the month this morning. Would this medicine cause a miscarriage?
Vyvanse is a category C drug when it comes to using it during pregnancy. This means that there is a potential risk to the pregnancy but the doctor may prescribe it when benefits outweigh the risks.
It is not clear how safe Vyvanse is to be taken during pregnancy, more studies are needed to say for sure. The doctor has to balance risk and benefits to decide in the case of your wife if it is best to take it or not.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
