Can Warfarin And Sexual Performance Pills Be Taken Together?

Hello. My husband is taking warfarin after having had pulmonary embolism about 4 years ago. I want to know whether he would be able to use a sexual performance tablet, the sort that are food supplements bought over the counter, not prescribed medication like viagra. Would there be an adverse interaction with the warfarin?

I understand your concern.
Warfarin medication is used to treat blood clots and/or to prevent new clots from forming in your body.
Moderate degree of interaction has been noted with use of Warfarin with Sildinafil (viagra). Using warfarin together with sildenafil may lead to bleed more easily. Hence, there is a need for dose adjustment based on prothrombin time or International Normalized Ratio (INR).
However, if Tadalafil is used for erectile dysfunction, there is no interaction noted with warfarin.
Warfarin interacts with many prescription/nonprescription vitamin and herbal products, which you need to be careful with. Use of such products along with warfarin would result in an increase or decrease in the "blood-thinning" (anticoagulant) effect.
Kindly review the product with your doctor before using it along with warfarin.
