Can Wellbutrin Be Taken While On Methylphenidate ER?
How much does this cost $ ? I am an adult male an am in therapy for AADD and Mild depression. I am on Methylphenidate ER 30mg 2x daily, and methylphenidate 20mg 1x daily and would like to try Wellbutron as an adjunct to hopefully reduce the sexual side-effects of the Methylphenidate. Also is the chemical makeup of these two drugs different, hope you can help. also i am living below the poverty level.
Hi & Welcome. I can understand your concern. Incomplete data like age, gender, other illness, etc. Yes, taken together it may cause harmful interactions.
The antidepressant Wellbutrin (Bupropion) when used along may rarely cause seizures (fits or convulsions). If taken along with Methylphenidate ER it may increase the risk of seizures many folds.
You may be more susceptible if you are elderly, undergoing alcohol or drug withdrawal, have a history of seizures, or have a condition affecting the central nervous system such as a brain tumor or head trauma.
Consult your treating doctor to prescribe alternatives to treat your sex related problems and that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications.
Hope I could answer your queries. Best regards.
