Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wifes been taking wysolone for the last 8 days due as a part of treatment of acute inflammation on her skin. Shes also been feeding the baby regularly. Of late, we are noticing that the baby s sleep has gone from bad to worse. Could this be due to the medication?
Although prednisolone (Wysolone) in normal doses does not have an effect on the breastfed baby.
If the mother is taking it in high doses it may affect the baby too and as lack of sleep is one of Wysolone's side effects, there may be sleeping problems.
So in high doses there should be a gap of 4 hours between taking prednisolone and feeding the baby.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
