Can Xanax Be Taken For A Panic Attack?

Just diagnosed with panic disorder. On 100 mg of zoloft, take in the a.m. Also take .5 mg of klonopin at night and have 1mg xanax to take if needed. My doctor also started me on toprol to releive some of the racing heart feelings I have. Took the klonopin this evening about an hour and a half ago but feel a panic attack coming on. Am I okay to take a Xanax at this point?

Hello thanks for asking from HCM

You have been diagnosed with panic disorder. You are advised to take Zoloft (sertraline), clonazepam 0.5 at night and alprazolam 1 mg on SOS basis for panic attacks. You have taken clonazepam and now have symptoms of panic. As per my opinion you should hold yourself to take alprazolam immediately as this may result in sedation. If symptoms become severe then there is no harm in taking Alprazolam half to one tablet. This will reduce the symptoms of panic and will relieve you from stress. Take the drugs as per your prescription only.
