Can Zometa Be Taken For Hypothyroidism After Treatment Of Breast Cancer?
Hi I am 57 year old female. Had breast cancer estrogen +Dec 2013 taking Arimidex June 2014 no chemo only radiation, have hypothyroidism taking synthroid 2009. Now I have osteoporosis, endocrinologist recommends Zometa once a year. I m terrified of the femoral fractures and the ONJ that can result from this med. I had a tibial plateu fracture in Feb 2016 and it has been the worst thing to ever happen to me. The thought of a those two side effects really scare me. Is this medication safe for me?
Zolendronic acid may cause few side effects like ostealgia, nausea, the fever usually mild and short-lived, fatigue, anemia, vomiting, constipation, and flu-like symptoms etc.
It may cause electrolyte imbalance or rash etc. So please consult your oncologist he will examine and treat you (if benefits outweigh risks) accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
