Can Zyprexa Be Taken For Severe Anxiety?
My 16 year old niece s psychiatrist is recommending that she begin zyprexa. She suffers from severe anxiety and is currently being treated for anorexia. Also, she has severe depression but often presents quite normally. I have raised her for eleven years. What is most dangerous about this drug for a teenager? She is clean of all medications right now, since she has been in hospital for more than a month for the eating disorder and the staff and doctor have been observing her. Thank you.

Zyprexa (olanzapine) is an antipsychotic medication that affects chemicals in the brain.It is used to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
I personally dont recommand it for anxiety.
I suggest you to try an anti-anxiety medication such as Valium first.
