Can A 16-ounce Carbonated Drink Cause The Stomach To Swell With CO2?
Received a chest x-ray this morning. While viewing the x-ray, I noticed there was a large, black globe shaped object appearing under my left lung. Could that be my stomach? I know objects that are full of air, are black. Additionally Within 30 minutes prior to the x-ray I had just consumed a 16 ounce carbonated beverage. Could this cause my stomach to swell with the CO2, thereby creating the fist sized, black image on the x-ray?

Yes, you are suspecting rightly. Carbonated drinks are one of the common causes of gas in the stomach and gut. That was the reason for the gastric air bubble. Do not worry.
