Can A Baby Born With Trisomy Lead A Healthy And Normal Life?

hi, my baby has trisomy 21, 47, xy, +21. he has got one surgery 30h after his birth in duodenal atresia. actualy he is 14 weeks and we have done a karyotype and the diacnose is classic DS. My baby looks normal, he has a bit slight eye but he can hear, see and eat &sleep normal. I am very interested to know if my baby can live a normal life as other children, or can you suggest me to have another test?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Even if the child has trisomy 21, you may consult a specialist in this field. let them check the extent of problem in case of your child. then learn to deal with such conditions. your efforts will play a major role in his future level of normalcy. The specialist will be able to guide you in right direction.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
