I have a 26 year old son who I just got to come back home, hes been HIV positive for 5 years with no treatment, he has a black leesion on his butt cheek and we are going to a clinic for testing and evaluation on Wednesday the 15 any suggestions, hes finally scared and Im afriad he may run off and avoid treatment, he is both an IV drug user and gay.................
Hi, Welcome to HCM. Does the black patch of your son has itching. If it is itchy, these patches are likely to be due to Fungal infection of skin. If it is not itching it may be due to Fixed drug eruption, a type of drug reaction. Both conditions are not uncommon in HIV infection. Convey your son that HIV disease is a well manageable disease as any other disease and with the help of drugs and life style modification one can live not less than 30 years. W
