Can A Blood Test Detect A Stroke?

Is there a blood test to determine if a small stroke has occurred? Two evenings ago my right hand was numb feeling and I could not pinch my thumb against any of my fingers. It was very difficult to hold things. I eventually took two aspirin and went to bed. The next mornng the symptoms had almost totally disappeared. Should I follow up on this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to HCM....

I am not telling you that it is confirmatory stroke ....
But here as muscle paresis like symptom present so it should not be neglected ...

You should get your physical examination done ....

Investigate with ...
1.Neurological examination
2.Serum calcium
3.B12 serum level
4.If needed electrolyte level checked like potassium
5.blood pressure measurement
6.If needed CT scan should be done to rule out stroke ....

If stroke present than dipyridamol or aspirin like drug needed ..
If hypertension and high cholesterol present than medication for that also should be given...

Take care

Advise : Consult physician for examination....
