Can A Broken Retainer Be Used Without Replacement?
The top piece of my retainer has fallen out of its container when I was trying to clean it and the centre right part (at the front where it is split in the middle) has broken off. Will I need to pay for a whole new one? We don't have much money and I know they are expensive..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... First of all i think you are talking about dental retainers. A dental retainer is placed to retain the tooth movement after completion of orthodontic treatment(wiring treatment) A broken retainer may be needed to be repaired or a new one may be made if retention period is left & the retainer is now not working well after the break. It all depends upon the condition of the broken retainer. If a retainer is broken a little bit it may even be repaired at very less cost. If your retention period is completed you might not be needing a retainer. Normally the retention period is 6 months.
Refer to your dentist/Orthodontist, In mean while you should wear your dental retainer if it is fitting Hope this information helps Good luck
