Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a TKR, the following day I and my Dr. realized I had a spontaneous valgus knee. It is is 5 weeks later and it has gotten worse in spite of the Physical Therapy, that the Dr. was hoping would make it better. The Dr s only thought is there was a complication fro the femoral nerve block. Can this be repaired
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
This is very rare and unfortunate complication. The only treatment is physiotherapy in the form of electric impulse, ultrasound, nerve stimulation and passive movements. Some doctors prefer oral steroids (methylprednisolone) and methylcobalamine (vitamin b 12) for 1-2 months. This has also been useful in some patients. So don't loose hope. Continue aggressive physiotherapy and discuss about starting these drugs with your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
