Can A Head Injury Cause Fever?

My husband fell on a his face Sunday night and develops a nasty black and blue eye that was swollen shut Monday morning. He has been icing and heating for 3 days and now just developed a fever tonight. He was in a boating accident over the Summer and had a concussion. Could this fever be a sign of a head injury?
