Hi, I have a medium size hydrocele but painful. Pain goes upto groin area. I tried all kind of medicine but no use. Thinking of going for surgery. But have read 2% chances of infertility after hydrocele surgery. Pls suggest what should i do? Very worried , this thing id making my life hell.
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. I understand your concerns. I hope I have answered your query. Hydrocele may affect fertility but this rarely happens. in most cases it leads to pain and discomfort in testicles and genital area and usually it grows progressively. It is not true that infertiliy risk is 2%, it is much smaller and surgery is always recommended for hydrocele and should be done before it is too big. There higher risk of infertility of this is left untreated for longer period so you should accept surgery if you ask me since complication risk is minimal. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
