Can A Peroneal Nerve Damage Is Be Restored Through Surgery?
Can major peroneal nerve damage be restored by surgery....I had a ganglion cyst removed from my knee around 15 yrs ago...It re-appeared a few months back with Major Pain associated with it .. Had an EMG and MRI done on my lower right leg..My current doctor says nothing can be done because of major nerve damage..I currently have no pain but now my muscles don t work to be able to lift my right foot...Walking with drop foot ..Looking for a 2nd opinion about the nothing can be done diagnosis...
In that case, if there is a peroneal tear or irreversible damage is there. We can't do anything about it. It is called lower motor neuron defect. Which leads to muscle atrophy due to its less use but you can start physiotherapy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
