Can A Person With Strep Throat Have Prednisone?
Hi, I am currently taking 5mg Prednisone once daily along with 400mgs Plaquenil for Lupus and Sjogrens Syndrome and have been exposed to Strep Throat. I have had a sore throat and ear for 2 days and am wondering if I should stop the Prednisone for now because I am worried it may lower my ability to fight the possible infection?

I have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns.
As far as prednisone is concerned, it depends upon the duration of its use.
If you are using it for more than 14 days then you cant abruptly stop it.
In my opinion , you should continue it with your antibiotics. no need to worry about it.
