Can A Pilonidal Cyst And Testicular Pain Be Connected?

Can a pilonidal cyst and testicular pain be connected? I had a pilonidal removed 18 years ago but started having a recurrence of pain in that area about two months ago. About two weeks ago, I started having pain in my testicle that comes and goes. Are they related?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
The pilonidal sinus is the problem at the low-back over the sacral area.
You had surgery 18 years ago and now have pain in the same area for about 2 months and pain in the testicle that comes and goes.
There is no connection between the two conditions.
I would advise you to get a clinical evaluation, physical examination by a General Surgeon. Get Ultrasonography and color doppler examination of the scrotum, relevant blood and urine tests. He shall also evaluate for the recurrence of pilonidal sinus.

General Surgeon Dr. T Chandrakant's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Since your pilonidal cyst was operated about 18 years ago, this may not be related to to the testicular pain.
The present pain in the operated area may be a referred pain from the testicular problems or local problems of myalgia or so.
For the testicular pain, I would suggest you the following:
Color doppler and ultrasonography of the scrotum and abdomen.
Tests of urine and blood.
Clinical evaluation and examination by a General Surgeon or Urologist.

The most probable reasons can be
Epididymo-orchitis.
Large varicocele and so on.

The treatment will be as per the cause found.
