Can A Pinched Nerve Cause A Blackout In Vision?

Can a pinched nerve cause a blackout? Last Sunday I nearly blacked out, but dropped to my knees quickly and put my head down. I then layed on the couch for a couple hours feeling weird. And I have felt weird on and off for the past week. My regular 6 month check up happened to be on Wednesday. So I told him what happened. He checked for inner ear infection, blood pressure, and listened to my heart. I also checked for glucose level. All came out normal. He suggested it may be dehydration. But before I take another blood test I thought I would just drink a lot of fluids and see if I feel better. Well, I initially have been feeling better but still get a weird feeling every now and then like I am going to faint. Then today I happened to be pressing in the middle of my chest and it hurt. Not only did it hurt, but after pressing a few times, I nearly fainted and my feet got tingly. I use a lift in my shoes, and arches because of alignment issues all the time. I have been to physical therapy in the past and chiropractors due to nerve pain and muscle pain. Recently I have started doing some morning strengthening exercises in the mornings and walking at night to add some exercise to my days. So I was wondering if perhaps my almost blackout and weird feeling this week could be due to a pinched nerve? I just hope it s not a more serious heart problem. I am a 40 year old female and mother of a 4 year old. I am 5 1 and 168 lbs. Thank you for your help. Karen

Hello,

Your doctor did the right thing to check your blood sugars, ear and heart. Problem in any of these can cause blackouts. Pain in your chest upon pressure can be due to inflammation in your chest area or in lung walls. However, it cannot be a cause of your blackouts. I need to know about other things as well like what sort of medicines are you taking, and what other ailments do you have along with aches and pains.

If you have improved with improved hydration then it might be the actual.cause of your symptoms. Still I suggest you to seek your doctor's advice after proper checkup.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
