In Feb, i spent a day doing taxes. Nothing strenuous, mostly sitting at my desk all day. About 8:30pm, i had a tearing sensation start low on my spine, left side and slowly moved up and around my side, stopping just before my rib cage, just left of center. It totally knocked the breath out of me and i laid down in the couch for a while, trying to breathe. It was very very painful. I finally took some ibuprofen and went to bed. Chiro found a rib out of place a few days later. He had to put out back in place several times over the course of a couple weeks (2 differ chiros found it out of place). Healing from this was very slow ( basically spent6weeks on the couch with ice packs and once i was able to get up, i pulled my back out a week later and had more couch time) and i still feel a lot of soreness. I have been walking daily 1-2 miles since my back healed, with that rib area not being further irritated but this week started water aerobics and it s really hurting again. Sometimes, when it s bad, i take a deep breath and hold it and then it feels better afterward. Is this normal for dislocation of a rib? If not, is this something i should see an ortho about? Or PT or someone else?
