Yes, a runny nose or post nasal drip can cause reflux/heartburn/Gerd and reflux can also in turn causes a runny nose or post nasal drip. There are many different treatments for allergies that do not cause drowsiness such as Claritin, Allegra, or Zyrtec. If you have a history of heart palpitations and do not buy the kind with Sudafed in it. In my practice if a patient has the cycle of gerd/runny nose I treat the runny nose either with allergy medications or a steroidnasal spray like Flonase and I treat the gerd with twice today Zantac to break the cycle. It may take some testing to determine whether your underlying issue is actually the Gerd or the runny nose. I hope that helps!
