Can A Stress Test Be Life Threatening?

I have been to see a Dr and they want to do a stress test I have heard it is as close to death as you can get I have a thick area on the right bottom side of my heart I am scared to death to take this test should I be they say you have to sign papers that you wont sue if you die why is that

stress test is life threatening if you over exert. taking stress should be toalimittill you are comfortable.have to stop when you feel discomfort doctor can examine and monitor your condition.
