Can A Thyroid Nodule On The Left Side Lead To Cancer?
I was recently dx with a thyroid nodule on the left side, had a sonogram done, a aspiration is recommended and will be scheduled.I'm a bit concerned @ this point. What is the % of this being cancerous? I am 52 y/o AM female. No family history that i know of. Is the proceedure painful?
Thyroid nodule alone may not be cancerous. If associated symptoms like neck lymph node swellings, history of persistent fever, night sweats, weight loss exists then there is the chance for malignancy that is cancer. Some times a single throid nodule presenting in the elderly shold rise the suspicion or a primary thyroid malignancy.the procedure is not that painful
