Incomplete data like age, CT scan report, and other tests? Yes, a tumor in the heart can be a cancer. Although it is very rare, cardiac sarcomas ('heart tumor') are soft tissue tumors that generally do not produce symptoms until they are in the advanced stage. These symptoms include dyspnea (shortness of breath as in case of your nephew), chest pain, and heart failure. Surgery remains the primary treatment for local control and survival in these patients and unfortunately the prognosis is poor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
