Can A Uterine Fibroid Be Removed Without A Total Hysterectomy?
Hi. I am 57 yrs and 1 month old.. I have been diagnosed having a fibroid. My Dr. performed a DNC. he says I need a total hysterectomy. I have no pain, except in my lower back. I haven t had sex for six years now. I began bleeding again after approximately 10 years. Just before menopause, I would bleed a lot around six months prior. I take an aspirin sometimes. If I take one too often I bleed some. I feel that s why I was bleeding. I weigh 370lbs. and is 5 7 tall. Do I really need a full hysterectomy? I m never sick or never feel bad or fatigue. I really don t want to have a hysterectomy. My Dr. says I do not have cancer. Thank you!
We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, if you are not having heavy per vaginal bleeding or anaemia due o blood loss or no pressure symptoms or pain or sensation of fullness you can delay the extraction.
However since with passage of time surgeries are related to more risks it's advisable to proceed with such inevitable procedures beforehand though it's a benign swelling otherwise.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
