Can A Viral Infection Cause Fever Along With Body Ache And Pressure In The Head?
Since Monday I have been running a fever with aches and pains and pressure in my head. My sinuses are wide open. I can breath fine. No chest conjestion vomiting or Diarrhea.Tylenol and Advil are not as helpful as I would like them to be.Tuesday I went to the local clinic. They did a Strep quick test and got a "Faint Positive" So they put me on 875 mg Amoxicillian for 10 day. Today is Saturday morning day 5 with no improvement. I think I have been misdiagnoses.I suspect something viral.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
From what you describe, it can be a viral infection like infectious mononucleosis. You will get better in 2-3 days time, since the time this condition takes to resolve is about a week from the beginning of symptoms. But please do not stop the antibiotic treatment. It can result in bacteria growing resistant to amoxicillin, and this can be a problem for future treatments. Stay hydrated and rest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
