Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can a weakened immune system, anemia and low RBW be contributing factors to trigger a gout attack? My husband has been having repeated bouts of gout recently. He is a kidney transplant patient and can t take allipurinal. Tried Uloric and the gout was so severe it brought him to the ER. Any thoughts? He watches his diet very carefully.
No, weakened immune system or anaemia or low RDW can not cause gout. Gout is caused by the accumulation of uric acid crystals in joint spaces. The main source of uric acid is proteins.
So he should restrict his protein source in the diet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
