Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have chronic uti s and have been treated with antibiotics. I have now developed a yeast infection which i was treating myself with a generic monistat. Now i have burning around the vaginal area and the rectum. Can a yeast infection develope outside of the vagina?
Hi, Welcome To HCM & Thanks For Asking Your Query Here
Burning around your vagina and rectum might be related to yeast infection but it may be caused by many other reasons including bacterial and viral infections , an STD etc have you got examined by a gynecologist or you have self diagnosed Yourself for a yeast infection , because After a UTI there are high chances of Developing bacterial Vaginosis (BV) , which needs further treatment using monistat in improper way may also cause dry and irritating skin around genitals
self diagnosis and treatment won't work and strongly not recommended and I would strongly suggest you to see Your Gynecologist , she will examine you thoroughly and may go for vaginal swab culture to determine the exact cause of infection
I hope it help Thanks & Get well Soon
