Can Accutane Cause Heart Murmur In A 16 Year Old Athlete?
Can Accutane cause a heart murmur in a 16 year old athlete? My son is 5 10, 155 lbs. and otherwise a very health football player. He s played for 8 years, even having sx last year for a broken hand, and now can t get clearance to play do to this murmur.

Accutane cannot cause heart murmer. The most likely reason for asymptomatic heart murmur in this age group is atrial septal defect. So I would recommend you to go for an echocardiogram to rule it out and any other reason. If present, it can be easily corrected and has an excellent prognosis.
