Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux back in October and took medicine for it and the stomach pains went away but the chest pains continued and haven't gotten any better or worse. I was put on new medication called Pantoprazole over a month ago and it's not helping either. The chest pains can happen once a day, all day, or not at all and i'm not sure if its still Acid Reflux related. The doctor said it would take about 6 weeks for the chest pains to get better in October and they haven't. The pain is sometimes serious to where it hurts just to breathe and sometimes its just a dull achey pain. It doesn't happen at a certain time throughout the day.It happens randomly throughout the day. I'm just tired pf taking medicine if its not going to help.Do you think its related to Acid Reflux?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, I had gone through the history given here, and let me explain it, if this the chest pain not due to acid reflux disease and it could be something else then the given treatment for acid reflux disease will not help in chest pain. It is most advisable to go for cardiac evaluation test like EKG, ECHO, STRESS TEST and X_RAY chest, beside all that it could be respiratory syndrome it could be allergic conditions, if all these test you had gone through and these are negative then the pain could be due to stress and anxiety. hope this information helps.
