Can After MRSA Pneumonia Cause Blood In The Phlegm?
what are the signs of MRSA pneumonia? My 17yr old has a cough with phlegm and she says sometimes there is a small dot of red blood in her phlegm. She is otherwise healthy, and functioning normally, except with this chronic wet cough. Coincidently, my 19yr old is being treated for MRSA, diagnosed last week, characterized with facial boils. Could my 17yr old have caught it but it manifested itself in her lungs instead of skin?
The signs of MRSA pneumonia are more or less like other bacterial pneumonia; only symptoms can be severe as it does not respond to common antibiotics. The common symptoms are fever, cough, sputum production, tiredness, body pain, headache, loss of appetite; sometimes chest pain and blood in sputum. Staphylococcus aureus is a common bacteria found in nose, mouth and skin; which sometimes cause upper respiratory infections, pneumonia or skin infections. it s called MRSA when this bacteria is resitant to Methicillin; and hence resistant to most of the common antibiotics.
You should take your daughter to your GP and she needs to do some tests including Chest Xray, blood tests and sputum culture and sensitivity.
Hope I have cleared your doubts
