Can Alcohol Addiction Cause Onset Of Early Menopause?
I am 41 yrs old and was diagnosed with being menopausal. I haven't had a period in well over a year and I've had irregular period for a long time prior. I'm in recovery from alcohol abuse and haven't had a drink in over 2 years. I've had a little bleeding lately and it feels like I want to start my period. Is there any way my early menopause could have been caused by my drinking and if so could my abstinence from alcohol affect my ovaries now?
yeah.... but... it's a bit of a stretch. The stress of alcohol addiction affects everything. Liver metabolizes hormones and these are typically altered by liver damage. Typically, the hormone levels raise (and men get breasts). Also the plain calorie intake often makes people fat and this also affects health.
