Can Alcoholism Cause Atrial Fibrillation And Sleep Apnea?
My boyfriend is 49 years old. he has abused alcohol and chewing tobacco on and off for about 20 years. Last year he was diagnosed with Afib/flutter and has had problems from that and is now on meds and seeing a cardiologist. He was also diagnosed with sleep apnea and now TSH levels came back at 7. what does this mean and can these problems be related?
No alcohol directly can not cause these problems. but surely worsen this. Atrial fibrillation/flutter is the pathology of heart conduction. Alcohol can depress conductive system and worsen the problem. High TSH means hypothyroidism and it may be related to his heat problem. Tobacco also related in the same manner to heart as alcohol.I can sya if hes tops both alcohol and smoking , his heart problems can be treated in batter way.
