Can Amoxicillin Taken For Tooth Infection Caused Body Rash?
Hi, I developed an infection under a crown that was put on top of a molar approx. 30 yrs ago on Dec 31st. I was given Clindamycin 300mg which did not get rid of the infection and started amoxicillin 500mg yesterday. Today I have a rash all over my body. I took amoxicillin as a child many times and never had a reaction so I was surprised. My question is twofold, should I be concerned about the rash and since when has amoxicillin been used to treat tooth infections? Thank you, Axxxxx
It is well known fact that amoxicillin causes body rash. You mentioned about your childhood intake of amoxicillin and you did not developed any rash that time. Still it is possible to develop rash because this is a idiosyncratic reaction not a casual relationship between rash and amoxicillin. In my opinion it is better for you to avoid amoxicillin in future.
'Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help". Thanks
