Can An ESR Test Come Back High After Donating Blood
Can an ESR test come back high after donating blood from a few days earlier? I got a routine lab test done and my ESR was 45. I was also diagnosed with anemia of chronic fatigue with a hemoglobin of 10.7, but TIBC/Iron all normal. I donated blood three days earlier and had a 13.9 hemoglobin before the donation. Could the high ESR be related?

Most common ESR is raise due to infection Acute and chronic infections
Vasculitis
Connective tissue disease
Arthritis
etc
so there is no evidence of rising due to blood donation

it is a non specific investigation in diseases above doctors have mentioned. And in your case it is most likely to bebe related to your anemia

ESR is not diagnostic and is non specific as has been told and mostly the reason for the high esr is your anaemia or just dehydration.
it would be better to get it checked again to see if there is any change.

ESR or Erythrocyte sedimentation rate, as correctly informed by Dr Radha, is a nonspecific test, usually elevated in organic diseases like infection (TB), pregnancy, elderly etc., & differentiates functional diseases. Blood donation is not likely to raise ESR; still you may get yourself examined physically to rule out any disease.
