Can An HSV-2 Affected Individual Have Vaginal Sex Using Condoms?

Hi. I am a female and I am currently having a hsv 2 outbreak on my right butt cheek. I am seeing my partner of 1 year today after being away from each other for 2.5 weeks. My question is can we still have vaginal sex with condom. The buttocks outbreak is completely covered. What are the risks. Thank you

Hi, I think HSV 2 infection is highly contagious and it can be transmitted by skin to skin contact also. Better to abstain from sex till you are cured. You can use a non latex condom during contact but the transmission through skin contact is also there.
