Can An Orencia Infusions Be Taken After Getting A Tetanus Booster Injection?

I am a 66 year old male who had a severe case of GBS 14 years ago. I take Orencia infusions once a month for RA and have for years now. My family doctor gave me a tetnus booster yesterday saying it had been 10 years. I read that should not have been done because of my past history. Should I be concerned and I am due an infusion next week should I skip it?

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Orancia is a man-made protein that prevents your body's immune system from attacking your healthy tissues like joints. It is well indicated in the treatment of RA and prevention of joint damage by this condition. It may however have an immunosuppressive effect and some vaccines may not be given in case you are on this drug.Tetanus vaccine however is not an attenuated bacteria that may be activated in an immunocompromised subject but rather an anotoxin, that is, its toxicity has been suppressed or weakened.I will advise you just stay calm and you will be fine.Take your next dose as planned
Hope this will help
