Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I think I may have dislocated my right shoulder. Would an injury like this be visible by x-ray? I m having certain pain and limited use in my shoulder, can t or having considerable pain when I raise it past a certain point and in certain movements. It s been recommended I get an x-ray, but because I m pretty sure it isn t altogether broken, would like to know if an x-ray would show what s going on with it. This injury is about 6 months now.
Shoulder dislocation is unlikely, because once the shoulder is dislocated you will not be able to move the affected side freely (you can not touch the opposite shoulder with the injured arm).
Dislocation can easily be seen with an X-ray, however, to visualize ligament or tendon injury, you need and an MRI scan.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
