Can An Ear Infection Cause Itching And Pain In The Ears?

I have had an itchy ear for almost a year now. My clinic dr says that it's just dry skin but it hurts now and it started after I was regularly started taking baths where my ears were submerged for prolonged periods of time. Could I have an ear infection?
Thanks! Mary

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Fungal infection in the ears can cause frequent itching and at times discharge in the ears. You should get your ears examined by an ENT specialist and get the ears cleaned up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
