Hello and welcome to HCM, The typhoid test is done for two antigens- 'O' and 'H'. The test for these two antigens is reported as titres in serial dilutions. The test is read as positive if the titres are above 1:80 and there is four fold increase in titres over period of time. The test results are 1:20 titres for antigen H and 1:80 for antigen O. The titres for antigen H is negative. The titres for antigen O are significant only if the titres increase over a period of time. The titres may become negative for typhoid if you have taken antibiotics before undertaking the test.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
