Can An Online Doctor Tell Me Why My Husband Is Suffering From Fever And Difficulty In Breathing For The Past 10 Days ?

hi..my husband is a 35 year old male from india. he has been suffering from fever from last 10 days..its was initially only fever and bodyache, and the doctor told his platelet counts were less (about 20000) and he was admitted..from past 2 days he has been developing difficulty in breathing with dry cough ..the doctors told he is not maintaining oxygenation without mask..and that now his white cells in blood are decreasing (about 1500)..he has had no episodes of any bleeding..can anyone help..? and to add to that, dengue malaria and leptospira tests were negative.. the doctors told on xray they couldnt mae out much except small amount of fluid scatteres all over his lungs..

hi..from the history mentioned it looks like your husband may have contracted a viral fever. viral fevers are known to cause decreased platelet counts and also white blood cell counts..they are usually self limiting. and for breathing difficulty, it looks like your husband might have developed pleural effusion or minimal pulmonary edema. the fluid usually gradually resolves most of the times.
and for dengue part, the test for detecting usually isnt positive all the time, and hence negative result doesnot rule it out. also, we have to consider the possibility of rose virus infection. the treatment of dengue and viral fevers is supportive, and to prevent and manage bleeding episodes, which your husband has not had, which is a good sign.

HELLO, the plateletcount you have mentioned is considered as very low. Also the WBC count is declining. He should be treated emperically for Malaria and dengue. He needs intense care.
