Can An Outside Hemorrhoid That Bleeds During Bowel Movement Be Removed Without Complete Colonoscopy?
I have an outside hemorrhoid that bleeds when I have a bowel movement. Can this be removed without having a complete colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy? Also, my friend just had a colonoscopy and the doctor somehow nicked her spleen. She is in the hospital. Is this common and should I be worried about having a colonoscopy myself?
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).
Hemorrhoids can be removed without colonoscopy no doubt in this. However if you are above 50 years colonoscopy should be done for screening for colorectal cancer. There is nothing to worry for colonoscopy it's a simple procedure which is usually done under some sedation. Trauma to spleen is very rare
