Can Anaesthesia Be Avoided During A Colonoscopy?

Hi Having colonoscopy next week, Most concern around sedation, Not sure what will be used. Seems to online indicate versed or profofol , both have lots of negative issues online but how safe are they? Can I do without at all or insist on very low dose?

Dear Patient, the coloscopy is a routine intervention and mostly propofol is being used for sedation without any problems. Severe complications are very rare so that you don't need to worry so much about it. I would not recommed doing the coloskopy without (even though it is possible), because that will make the procedure much more incomfortable for you. The sedation usually is used in the smallest dose possible and in most cases everything goes fine. All the best to you, kind regards
