Can Antibiotics Alone Help In Treating An Ear Pit Infection?

Hi, doctors I do have ear pit infection just yesterda and its my 3rd time. I already take antibiotic. My question is, is it possible for my infection to just disappear just by taking antibiotic without draining it? There s no pus yet its just a swollen lump. or does it need to be drained? Are there any implication if I just use antibiotics for 7 days?

Hi,

First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, you may use antibiotics for gram positive coverage and seven days may be continued of tolerance is not an issue.

Topical antibiotics as well as anti inflammatory drugs like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful as well. If all these measures fail ENT specialist review and consideration of incision and drainage may be done.

Discharge if any can be send for cultures and sensitivity.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
