Can Antibiotics Cure Swollen Lymph Nodes On Left Side Of Neck?

I have had swollen lymph nodes on my left side of my neck only off and on for a couple of years. When I've taken antibiotics, the lymph nodes reduce to nothing. I've noticed this when I've had a sinus infection or my doctor prescribed antibiotics for other reasons. Lately I went through a sinuplasty and my sinus doctor told me that it was not normal for a 60 year old woman to have swollen lymph glands. I told him that they go away when I'm on antibiotics so he prescribed antibiotics because he didn't believe me that they would go away. Well on my follow up the lymph nodes were flat with no swelling. Now there is a belief that I have a low grade infection in my body somewhere. I have had my teeth checked and was told that I do not have an infection in my teeth. Can you suggest anything that I could do to figure this out?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain swollen lymph nodes that subsides by taking antibiotics is suggestive of infection..
In case if you are examined for your teeth and no infection is found there is a possibility that you have recurring swelling of the lymph nodes secondary to sinus infection.
As the infection proliferate you get inflammation in lymph nodes too..
I would suggest you to undergo full body check-up along with FNAC/Biopsy of the swollen lymph nodes to rule out the exact cause of pain and treatment will be advised accordingly..
You can also do warm compresses over the lymph nodes to reduce the swelling..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
